The New Age Cure for Wanderlust

What is life if not but a bold adventure? In today’s world travel isn’t just about escapism, people are craving more from their vacation than just ditching the daily grind and opting for some all-inclusive beachside cocktails. Travel is evolving and on its forefront is a major yoga revolution. Yoga has emerged out of the Ashrams of India and has rapidly become a part of western civilizations daily lifestyle thanks to the likes of Yogananda, Sri K Pattabi Jois and BKS Iyengar. These spiritual leaders took to the west to teach what the east was losing touch with in hopes of eventually having this yoga revolution come full circle.

“Yoga will emerge as a mighty world culture and change the course of world events.” – Swami Satyananda Saraswati 1963

Twenty years ago yoga was most definitely on the fringe of society but nowadays there’s a trendy new yoga studio almost anywhere you go. The hashtag #yoga has over 19 million posts on Instagram alone! But what’s even more intriguing is the gaining popularity of yoga based travel. Think of any vacation you could ever possibly imagine and just add yoga to it. There’s yoga in Thailand, yachting and yoga in Turkey, yoga weekend getaways to the Rockies, Surf and yoga retreats in Costa Rica, wine and yoga in the vineyards of France, and eco yoga adventure retreats in pretty much every tropical paradise you can think of.

So what’s the deal? I call this the birth of conscious travelling. After spending the last ten years of my life working to travel, I began to notice that I wanted more from my experiences. I also noticed that the only way I could keep the natural high of travelling alive and beat those post-travel blues was getting on my mat and starting on the most epic journey of all, the journey within. I desperately wanted to become a part of this spiritual revolution and combine my two passions of travelling and yoga and create a life that I didn’t need to take a vacation from. We are starting to see a huge trend towards health and wellness related travel. I know just from my personal experience I was getting tired of taking vacations that I needed to take a vacation from. You know the one’s that I am talking about, hot shot trips to Vegas, party hardy music festival vacay’s that leave you rich with experience but in need of some major rejuvenation. That work hard, play hard mentality can leave you feeling pretty drained so I started on a mission. How was it that I could travel the world while living a healthy and rewarding life? I have dedicated the last decade of my life to self-discovery and travel and it was a natural progression for me to become a yoga teacher, it just so happened that one of my best friends also owned a travel company. So after some persistence and convincing the YogaLife Tours were born. Although I might not be the first yoga teacher to attempt to pioneer this lifestyle, I do know that my only intention is to create a global yoga community. Although I might not be the first yoga teacher to attempt to pioneer this lifestyle, I do know that my only intention is to create a global yoga community. I think that connecting people through yoga and travel is such a great way to establish a worldwide network of like-minded people. Sharing #OMazing adventurous experiences while fostering personal exploration can inspire people around the world to open their minds and hearts.

Yoga is simply amazing all on its own, the health benefits both physiological and phycological are pretty phenomenal. Adding a spiritual element to your travels in vividly sublime landscapes is transformational, not to mention unforgettable and rewarding. What we are offering is the opportunity to deepen your understanding of who you are and why you are here. In exchange, you get to explore different cultures and experience alternative ways of life with conscious awareness. Yoga, after all, is an ancient Indian way of life, which includes changes in mental attitude, diet, and the practice of specific techniques such as yoga asanas (postures), breathing practices (pranayamas), and meditation to attain the highest level of consciousness. The YogaLife Tours aim to take your travels to a heightened level, truly deepening the human experience.
